April is for Romance ( to read, that is)

Three choices to read this month

NOTE DATE CHANGE: WE WILL MEET ON THURSDAY, MAY 3rd, AT IAN INGERSOLL'S, 4930 N. JEFFERSON STREEET, PULASKI, APT. 7. Please bring a chair. Snacks may be coordinated with Barb Joslyn. See you Thursday in Spring!

This month the Reader's Choice Book Club has chosen to read some examples of romantic literature. We have selected first a play by William Shakespeare, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" , one of his very popular comedies.

The second selection is a classic historical novel by Emily Bronte', set in 19th century England, of a passionate love that leads to tragedy.

The third choice is lighter fare, a romantic mystery set on the Greek island of Corfu, supposed site of Shakespeare's "The Tempest", and is full of descriptive passages of this lovely isle.

The Book Club will meet on Monday, April 30th, at 5 PM, to discuss these works. Everyone is welcome to join us. Books are available at the Ainsworth Memorial Library in Sandy Creek.

from NCLS Catalog: A Midsummer Night's Dream, by William Shakespeare

Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte'

This Rough Magic, by Mary Stewart

"The unique combination of danger and delight has become the hallmark of a Mary Stewart novel, and This Rough Magic, her triumphant new bestseller, is another superb mixture of menace and enchantment ...'Wonderfully evoked atmosphere, scenery, charm, spirit, fine plotting ... from start to finish.'"

San Francisco Chronicle

Mary Stewart is one of the most widely read fiction writers of our time. The author of nineteen novels as well as a volume of poetry and three works for young readers, she is admired both for her contemporary stories of romantic suspense, such as The Moonspinners ...and for her historical novels including The Crystal Cave, The Hollow Hills, and The Last Enchantment (collectively known as The Merlin Trilogy), and The Wicked Day.

Mary Stewart was born in England, but she has lived for many years in Scotland, where she divides her time between Edinburgh and the West Highlands.

William Morrow & Company, 1995
